Role Summary
The candidate will be responsible for establishing configuration management methodologies and business processes that will modernize operations and improve the quality of services delivered and implemented across the firm. This will include implementing and sustaining inventory and asset management procedures, maintaining the physical and logical configuration of resources (i.e., hardware and software), and documenting the relationships of the resources to each other.
The candidate will be a focal point for any CMDB related questions. It is expected that she/he will maintain a current and accurate baseline of the Markit infrastructure. The candidate will be also responsible for creation, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of all tools created to support the configuration management process.
The global implementation of Jira will be closely followed by rollout of Confluence and Subversion, and environment and release management tools are also likely.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop the Configuration and Capacity Management Plans
- Own CMDB and the processes of CMDB support, including hands-on participation in collecting CI’s information if necessary
- Maintain configuration control of documentation, including policy statements, business processes, standard operating procedures, and related forms
- Serve as the organization's liaison in an effort to coordinate with other components that perform related CM activities
- Participate in the Change Management process to reinforce controls for keeping the CMDB up-to-date
- Coordinate procurement process; participate in improvement of the Procurement processes
- Participate in establishing capacity management policy
- Support Release and Change Management Boards
- Conduct configuration audits
Key Competencies
- Excellent understanding of the Configuration and Capacity management disciplines
- Working knowledge of SNMP and SNMP based management tools is a must
- Past recent background in system administration of Unix platforms
- Working knowledge of shell/Perl scripting
- Ability to own, facilitate and perform collection of information on Infrastructure CI’s
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to structure sophisticated problems and trace them back to the root
- University degree or equivalent
- Experience on a similar position is a big advantage
- Excellent verbal and writing skills in English
Profile
Must have the ability to work independently, be well-organized, and handle multiple projects simultaneously through to completion is necessary in order to support team objectives. The individual should have familiarity within a structured CM production environment. Ideally, s/he should have experience working for big international companies with large and distributed infrastructure. A proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues to ensure system stability and maximize productivity is highly preferred.
