Vice President, Markit Portal Developer, Desktop

Role Summary

Development, testing, and configuration management for Markit Portal. This will role will also include support for the transition of features and customers to Markit Desktop for Web.

Duties and Accountabilities

Ability to quickly assimilate multiple legacy systems and services. The role will require ongoing maintenance of the supporting infrastructure in the Markit Warehouse that provides static data and interday prices to the Markit Portal. This infrastructure includes java, Sql/J, and PL/Sql programming. Within the Portal, the tasks will require skills with C#.

As the supporting systems are constantly evolving, the role will have substantial responsibility for maintaining the Portal QA environment and providing regression testing as updates are performed on the Markit Warehouse components.

This position will also consist of providing second level support to the Portal. Working well under pressure with good communications will be critical job skills. Some out of hours work will be required for management of production upgrades and monitoring of results.

Finally, as eventual migration of the Portal is the target plan, this role will evolve to include development within the Markit Desktop for Web to provide equivalent functionalities.

Business Competencies

  • Education and experience: solid, proven programming experience with specific knowledge of java, c#, PL/Sql and Oracle databases, Microsoft Sql Server.
  • Management Experience: effective written and oral communications skills are required for interaction with business stakeholders.
  • Excellent understanding of software systems and development.
  • Commercial Awareness: general knowledge of financial markets and assets will be advantageous.

  • Teamwork: as Portal is a transitional project, the ability to integrate into the larger desktop team will be a requirement.
