Vice President, Senior C+ Developer
Role Summary
Markit’s Dallas,TX office is seeking a senior software engineer to assist with the on-going development and enhancement of client/server and web-based applications. It is anticipated that this position will evolve into a leadership role within the company based on experience and ability.
This position promises a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast growing and entrepreneurial, global company. The applicant will have drive, a can-do attitude, and an ability to juggle a wide variety of responsibilities in a fast-moving environment. The applicant will ideally reside within reasonable commuting distance from the Dallas office.

Duties and Accountabilities
- Review and analyze technical and functional specifications, develop technical designs and implement solutions using structured programming methods. Your design and implemented solutions must be reliable, scalable, and perform at a high-level to meet the service levels associated with mission-critical, client/server based solutions. You will work within a large team of developers (user-interface, middle tier business logic, data access) and application architects interfacing with business analysts, database developers, infrastructure architects, and quality assurance testers to ensure the successful delivery of an integrated solution meeting the needs of FCS.
- Develop code and test, and document business solutions, adhering to best practices on coding standards, procedures, and techniques. You will be expected to understand/apply reusable code design, leverage application architecture/framework capabilities and functionality, and design/develop solutions that are highly reliable, scalable, and perform to meet business-defined service levels.
- Contribute to the team environment with opportunities to coach/mentor and leverage and share experiences, knowledge, and best practices with other team members. Continue to develop and find ways to improve the development process and enterprise solutions.
Business Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience or specialized training) in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Software Engineering, or related discipline.
- 6+ years development experience with Microsoft technologies
- 3+ years development experience using C# with enterprise applications
- 3+ years experience in client/server or n-tier application(s)
- 4+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL)
- Experience using version control systems (e.g. TFS, VSS)
Personal Competencies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter, and within a team environment
