Director/Vice President, Technical Business Analyst

Role Summary

Markit Group Limited (“Markit”), the leading provider of independent data, portfolio valuations and OTC derivatives trade processing to the global financial markets, seeks an experienced technology practitioner to lead its efforts to define and implement its single identity strategy for its client facing systems.

Markit intends to establish an enterprise business service for identity management to consolidate functionality presently replicated across a variety of client facing business systems. The individual filling this role will provide technical leadership and management of this project across separate phases of requirement definition, technical specification, and implementation and deployment of chosen solution.

Duties and Accountabilities

Phase I - Requirements

  • Identify stakeholders and gather requirements from individual business units with in Markit.
  • Evaluate proprietary and third-party options for potential solutions, including assessment of technical and business suitability; conduct gap analysis; conduct RFI as required.
  • Define best-fit solution and present findings and recommendations to executive management

Phase II – Specification

  • Produce detailed business and functional requirement specifications from existing systems and vendor RFI responses.
  • Raise RFQs and vendor implementation plans; Prepare project plan with internal teams.
  • Collect and coordinate detailed initial project planning from internal and external participants.

Phase III – Implementation

  • Supervise hiring of resources required for internal development and support.
  • Manage vendor relationship for third-party development activities
  • Provide project management throughout implementation
  • Evangelise adoption,
  • Structure supporting framework and resources,
  • Coordinate administrative processes,
  • Provide escalated support,
  • Extend and adapt to greater functionality

Business Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a business analyst and project manager
  • Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle
  • Experienced in evaluation and management of vendors
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Analytical and well organized
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Technical expertise in commercial or open source identity management solutions – e.g., IBM Tivoli
  • Strong understanding of technology, and its use in producing applications in the financial services industry
  • Able to work competently on his/her own or within a team, taking a project through complete lifecycle. This project will require a transition from independent work to team leadership over its course. Past successful demonstration would be beneficial
  • Past experience with financial markets desirable.
  • Awareness of third party solutions desirable
