Associate, Test Analyst, Credit

Role Summary

Markit is seeking an experienced testing professional to join the Credit group to plan, write and execute both manual and automated tests. The Credit group uses a wide range of applications and technologies, and the candidate should be comfortable working in multi-system environments and able to co-ordinate their testing across shared project platforms.

The required candidate must be enthusiastic and proactive and demonstrate a good understanding of testing methodologies combined with experience in gathering requirements and delivering system and regression test scripts.

Being data orientated, the position requires knowledge of relational database theory, SQL, stored procedures and other data manipulation technologies. VBA Excel programming would be a considerable advantage, as would relevant product knowledge.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Reviewing business requirements and associated design documentation.
  • Attending appropriate workshops and meetings to ensure a sound understanding of developments prior to testing.
  • Coordinating the testing process by taking responsibility for overall progress and liaising with development and the business to ensure deadlines are met
  • Developing test plans, approach, details and scripts.
  • Running manual tests on software ensuring it conforms to design and set standards.
  • Identify and develop improvements in the testing process, including automation.
  • Raising and resolving any issues / faults identified.
  • Manage risk and take contingency action where necessary.
  • Input to the company-wide testing framework.

In addition to the above the candidate should have foresight to identify and comment on developments with the prospect of assessing whether they are of good enough quality to be released.

Business Competencies

  • University graduate or equivalent, preferably in a computing or finance-related degree.
  • Demonstrable system / regression testing experience, ideally in a financial environment with a blend of manual and automated testing.
  • Excellent understanding of software systems and development.
  • Experience working with V and RAD development life-cycle methodologies.
  • Good understanding of relational databases, SQL, stored procedures and other data manipulation technologies.
  • VBA Excel programming (desirable).
  • ISEB Certification
  • Commercial Awareness - Experience and understanding of the testing process, project test lifecycles, and techniques; knowledge and experience of financial markets, particularly Credit products (desirable).
