Associate, Desktop Support Technician - New York City
Role Summary
We are a fast growing financial services company seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our global systems administration and operational support team in our Manhattan, NY office. Part of a global team, the primary role for this position provides desktop and office technology support to employees and systems in Markit’s North American offices, and backup support to Markit’s international offices.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Adding, deleting, modifying user accounts in MS Active Directory to accommodate new hires, departing employees, and various changes to user domain accounts.
- Resolving desktop problems for HP thin client and Window 2000/XP PC users and troubleshooting desktop MS Terminal Server
- Adding, deleting, modifying employee accounts in Blackberry Enterprise Server and Goodlink server. Troubleshooting PDA-Exchange synchronization issues.
- End user support troubleshooting and resolving issues with HP Thin Clients and Windows XP desktops
- Install and repair all pc hardware, laptops and peripherals
- Create and deploy desktop OS & software package images
- Coordinate and support internal user moves
- Log calls in problem tracking system: accurately, thoroughly with comprehensive detail
- Review open problem tickets daily; Follow up with open work orders.
- Identify/Complete problem hand-off to appropriate area(s) of responsibility
- Communicate with IT Support staff/management to discuss problem status, policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Work flexible hours, holidays, weekends and occasionally extended hours
Business Competencies
- Previous experience supporting a Microsoft Windows desktop environment
- Experience with remote access using Microsoft Terminal Services
- Experience administering Windows 2003 MS Active Directory, including user and group administration
- Experience administering MS Exchange 2003 Experience with backup operations using Veritas Backup Exec
- Experience with remotely accessing corporate network with Cisco VPN
- Experience with MS Roaming profiles
- Experience with administering MS Active Directory’s domain-level controls such as security policies and group control
- Experience administering PBX or other corporate phone system
- Previous employment in finance industry
- Experience supporting Blackberry and/or Treo PDA’s using Blackberry Enterprise Server and Goodlink servers

- Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization, both verbally and in written documentation
