Associate, Application Developer
Role Summary
Markit is seeking a Software Programmer for its Dallas,TX office to work within its Consulting Group to provide customer oriented solutions to meet the objectives of our clients. The Consulting Group interfaces with the client providing quality reports, extracts and applications at the clients request using WSO Reporting and WSO API’s that fit the overall goals of Markit. This position will be responsible for understanding the client needs as well as building, supporting and upgrading custom solutions. In this role, attention to detail and the ability to understand and follow financial calculations is imperative.
Over 50% of our core products are currently being rewritten from Microsoft’s COM model into C# .Net. Markit is heavily leveraging framework features such as Enterprise Library, WPF, WCF, WorkFlow Foundation and we are dedicated to a Service-Oriented Architecture.

The applicant will ideally reside within reasonable commuting distance from the Dallas office.

Duties and Accountabilities
- Understand standard software development lifecycle processes and applies our methodology effectively on client engagements.
- Apply knowledge of industry trends and developments to improve service to our clients
- Independently design, code, and test major features/solutions, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes
- Comprehension of business specifications and Meet Deadlines
- Understand basic relational database concepts
- Confidently write the four basic SQL statements
Business Competencies
- 2+ Years Experience with T-SQL
- 2+ years experience with Visual Basic and/or .NET in a client/server or n-tier application(s)
- 2+ years experience with Microsoft SQL Server
- Comprehension of investment terminology such as Weight Average, Cost Amount and Accrued Interest.
- C#.Net Certification preferred
- Understanding of SharePoint Portals and WebParts preferred
- Active Reports or Crystal Reports experience preferred
- MSIIS,XML/XSL,DHTML preferred
- ASP.NET, VB/C#.NET, ADO.NET experience preferred
Personal Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering
- Results oriented self-starter
- Excellent communication and people skills
